Recommendation: Members supported this application subject to the building remaining ancillary to the existing building, but not to be used as a separate dwelling

Recommendation: Members objected to this application and commented that it is not in keeping with the street scene and that as the site is in a conservation area it should be subject to the comments of the Conservation Officer.

Recommendation: Members objected to this application and repeated their comments:

  • Parking at that end of the town centre is already used during the day by local businesses and shoppers. If this parking is lost it will affect the regeneration of the town centre. There is no parking shown on the application and the areas suggested for parking facilities on Stangrove Road, which has extensive parking restrictions; Lingfield Road, or Tekram Close are impractical as these streets are much further away from the proposed development site and the relief road is already a very busy road.
  • The demolition of a Victorian building for a new block of flats will damage the historic market town appearance, especially the view when entering the town from the North end.
  • The height of this building is not in keeping with the street scene and also inappropriate for a town the size of Edenbridge. It will cause overlooking and loss of light for some neighbours and is over development in the in the conservation area.

Recommendation: Members supported this application.

Recommendation: Members objected to this application and commented:

There is still the absence of a Noise Assessment, and the proposal for the TV screen is too big and is not acceptable in the Conservation Area and not in keeping with the street scene.

Members unanimously supported the new White Gate and signage for the entry point to Edenbridge from Main Road.

Members unanimously supported the council in responding to KCC on the other two locations.

Cllr Stockdale offered to liaise with the Community Warden to collate and produce reports from the portable Speed Indicator Device (SID) data. Members discussed if the SID needed recalibration and software updates. One Member recommended and proposed that the SID is serviced and updated, and to take to full Council to take responsibility for it. Another raised that there are two SIDs, one Council owned and the other used for Speedwatch which is SDC owned. There was no objection to refer to Council. Following discussion, Members unanimously agreed Cllr Stockadale to work with the Community Warden, and to produce summary reports on the data, to be reported to members approximately six monthly.
