Forward Planning

What we do
The Forward Planning Steering Group looks ahead to the town’s medium- and long-term needs. It focuses especially on capital projects (big, one-off investments) and on the factors that may affect future budgets.

How we work
The group meets to discuss priorities and options, then makes policy recommendations to the Full Council. It does not have its own budget or delegated authority - its role is to provide guidance to help the Council plan ahead.

Why it matters
Forward planning helps make sure the Council is prepared for future challenges and opportunities. By looking at infrastructure needs, big projects and budget pressures in advance, the group supports careful, sustainable decision-making.

All 15 councillors are members of the Forward Planning Steering Group.
