Community Infrastructure Board

What we do
The Community Infrastructure (CIL) Board decides how money raised from local development is spent in our town. It considers bids for funding in line with legal requirements, the Town Council’s policies, SDC and national CIL guidance.
How we work
The Board has delegated authority from the Full Council, which means it can make decisions directly on how CIL funds are allocated. Applications for funding are reviewed carefully to make sure they meet the rules and deliver real community benefit.
Why it matters
CIL funding provides extra money for local infrastructure, facilities, and services - things like transport improvements, community buildings and maintenance, green spaces, education and facilities. By deciding where this money goes, the Board helps make sure new development also brings positive benefits to the community.
Who’s involved
All 15 counciloors are members of the Board.
About CIL
The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a charge on most new developments. It is collected by Sevenoaks District Council, with a share passed to the Town Council to spend locally. Some developments may qualify for relief or exemption.
