Open Spaces
What we do
The Open Spaces Committee makes decisions about how the town’s parks, green areas, and public spaces are managed. This includes things like play areas, open land, cemeteries, sports pitches and street lighting.
How we work
The Committee meets five times a year to agree on priorities, set policies, and decide how money should be spent. It also monitors how well services are being delivered and ensures budgets are used responsibly.
Why it matters
By shaping how our shared spaces are cared for, the Committee helps keep the town attractive, safe, and enjoyable for everyone. It manages one of the Council’s largest budgets, making its decisions especially important for the whole community.
Who’s involved
The Committee is made up of 10 councillors, appointed each year at the Council’s Annual meeting
