Charities & Grants

What we do
Edenbridge Town Council is the sole managing trustee as a corporate body for two charities and assumes all responsibilities and accountability for the governance of the charities: The Public Recreation Ground – Lingfield Road (302733); The Recreation Ground – Blossoms Park (302732). Councillors are trustees to The Norman Foundation (307544). Trustees have the authority to make decisions with regards to the investments of the charities’ accounts, review the aims of each charity, and make charitable donations. The Town Council also has a Grants fund which it considers awards to local organisations or organisations that benefit local residents.

How we work
The Charities Committee meets once a year to confirm the accounts and the charity commission annual return for all three charity accounts. The day to day operation and maintenance of the land held as Charity Trusts is overseen by the Open Spaces Committee as part of its income and expenditure. It also considers any applications made to the Norman Foundation. The Grants Fund invites applicants once a year, bids are considered against the Grants Policy and considered annually at its Committee meeting.

Why it matters
The Town Council is the proprietor of the land held in charitable trusts; and appointed trustees of The Norman Foundation. The Council is keen to support local groups and organisations that help support community wellbeing, services and facilities for the benefit of Edenbridge residents.
