Using search

Procedure Councillor

The search page

Click Search in the top menu to open Search Council Papers. Type a search term into the Search Terms box and click Search, or click the filter icon next to it to open additional filters before searching.

Filters

Filter What it does
Search In Limit to All Fields, Titles Only, Agenda Text, or Meeting Minutes
Date Range Limit results to a specific date range
Committee Limit results to a specific committee, or search All Committees
Sort By Order results by Relevance or by date

After setting filters, click Apply Filters to update the results, or Reset to clear them.

Search operators

Click Help next to Search Terms for the full syntax guide. In summary:

What you type What it does
housing development Items containing both words
"planning permission" Items containing that exact phrase
planning NOT enforcement Items that do not mention enforcement
precept OR budget Items mentioning either word
plan* Matches planning, plans, planned, planner...
organisation~ Matches organisation and organization (typo-tolerant)

A search must always include at least one positive search term — NOT housing on its own will return an error.

Tips

Search is not case-sensitive.

If you get no results, try widening the date range, removing a committee filter, or replacing an exact word with a wildcard (plan*).

Use quotation marks for references — planning application references and similar identifiers are best searched as exact phrases, e.g. "CDC/2025/0387/FUL".
