Councillor Margot McArthur
Councillor Margot McArthur has lived in Edenbridge for many years, where her children grew up and attended local schools.
She has served on Edenbridge Town Council for 15 years, including two years as Chairman, and has long been involved in supporting the town and its community. Margot also serves as a Sevenoaks District Councillor, a role she has held for over a decade, and is a former Kent County Councillor.
Alongside her council responsibilities, she works as an independent consultant advising central government ministries and departments and also sits part-time in the High Court.
Margot has a particular interest in the behaviour and conservation of the River Eden and the challenges surrounding surface water and flooding. She has chaired the Town Council’s Emergency Planning and Response Committee for several years, helping to guide the town’s approach to resilience and preparedness.
In addition to her council work, she is a Trustee of the Great Stone Bridge Trust and volunteers at Gatwick Airport, continuing her long-standing commitment to public and community service.
